Too Political.
Too Political.

She’s too political.
I only spoke my mind.
She’s too much.
I laughed.
She doesn’t belong in the world,
She belongs on the news.
I watch the news.
A girl’s eyes, just like mine, stare back at me.
Her golden brown hair soaked in blood,
Stained by the idea that a man simply can.
Am I next?
When my mom turns on a murder mystery,
Will my episode be the next one?
But I don’t dare speak.
My secrets are buried with the girl I know nothing about,
Except I do know her.
She was 17, smart, kind, and full of life.
She was me.
I look at myself and scream, wishing to vanish underground with her.
Just look away.
The news.
The world.
Don’t be too much, don’t be too political
And maybe your episode won’t be next.
